Gundam Motivational!

The time has come! It’s the Gundam Motivational contest! I’ve decided to include everyone but 16 entries is a bit much to fit on one poll so I’m dividing the competition up into 4′s then merging the winners to compete for the final poll. Yes, a few used images that aren’t done with their own but ehh, I can let it slide. Everyone should deserve a chance to play. Winner takes away a 1/144 Gundam Rasiel, complete with the issue of Dengeki Hobby. Let’s make things simple:

- Semi-final voting goes until I wake up on Saturday (this is more than 24 hours from now). Final voting goes until Monday 12:01 AM PST. Should be more than enough time for everyone.

- I won’t be voting (I am in the contest just for fun though ^^). You can get your buddies to vote too but at least let them be honest

- You may vote for more than one entry <— Just testing how this will work out.

- I’ll contact whoever wins to set things up.

- May the force be with you.

MG Sinanju WISP- Head and Body

Here’s the first of my Work in Slow Progress of MG Sinanju…

Let me know your honest opinion about the gold paint job. The painting really put a strain on my eyes (and I’m already kinda blind as is ^^;). It took probably a little over two hours to paint all that gold in but should probably go faster and smoother now that I got the hang of it. Masking the parts is futile as I find it faster and easier to just paint carefully and clean up whatever mess I have afterwards with a toothpick and rubbing alcohol.

I’ll still touch it up some more before spraying top coat on it. Judginging from the impurities, I’ll say one needs to apply at least 5-7 layers of gold paint (handbrushed) to look the most solid. I only applied three.

Oh how I want to give up on this model. Laziness kicking in XD. This project will probably carry me into February… *sigh*

Contest update: The 1/144 Rasiel Giveaway only have 11 entries so far and deadline is this friday so I’m thinking I could just put everyone into the finals ^^. Is anyone else still preparing theirs?

I Can See the Light!

I apologize for the lack of productive updates lately, I’ve been out and about the whole weekend so I wasn’t able to work on Sinanju yet ^^;. Will take the next two days to cram in some effort. I’m also waiting for a certain “cheat sheet” for the MG Sinanju as well. I’ve finally changed all my photo lighting from that nasty yellow to daylight white! Now I can finally take some SLR photos that I can be a little more satisfied about ^^;.

For Gunpla photoshooting, nothing beats daylight (not even simulated daylight!) but this will do. Quite satisfied actually (the Astraea Type F and GN Arms photos look like crap to me, honestly). More photos…

Look Look! The photos are actually WHITE! :D I think this is actually easier on the eyes and things aren’t overexposed. Sadly, one of the bulbs has already burned out (WTF?). Maybe three 27w fluorescent bulb (100 watt equivalent each bulb) is a bit too much on one floor lamp ^^;. Look forward to better photos in the future ^_^

MG Sinanju- My Battle Begins!

Update: What’s with school starting and all, I’ve extended the deadline of the giveaway to Friday the 9th so more people can take their time to work on their entry. I’ve received 10 so far. ^^

So apparently I’ve actually received this on Dec 30th, 2008 but since nobody bothered to tell me that it arrived, I didn’t know about it and was walking past it for the past couple of days ^^;. What’s better to kick off the new year than the lastest Master Grade from Bandai, right?

GAHH! The horrendous gold foil stickers. I would’ve just shred them up on the spot if I didn’t pay so much for this model. Saying that, my gold paint of choice is Tamiya Gold Leaf- If I hate the result, then I’ll be using the other sheet of decals. One thing that really irked me was how many keep referring to the other Gold sheet as “clear stickers”. IT IS NOT. THEY ARE WATER TRANSFER DECALS! damn… so misleading. There is NO CLEAR STICKERS IN THIS MODEL! *ahem* anyway… I’m probably gonna be spending around 3-4 weeks on this model so it’ll be awhile (remember how I took over a month on MG Unicorn?). For the mean time, you can check out Dalong’s completed review or fellow comrade Busterbeam’s Work in Progress on his Sinanju. Of course, you’ll also see  yours truly WISP as the weeks go by as well ^^;.

Astraea Review Part 2- Action!

Wee! First post of the year! Here’s the second part of Astraea Type F’s review. The remainder being all the action photos and the summary. Was using my mini reactor for lighting and standing next to it for the whole photoshoot and now I’m seeing stars ^^;. In case some of you missed it, I started another giveaway two post down. I’ve received six entries so far ^_^. Hope there will be more coming in!

A full frontal battle will start on Saturday.
