The weather is hot and sunny now in Oregon. This means that instead of spending time building gunplas, it is time to get down and dirty with your significant other :)

Here’s the review for the second of the suddenly acquired Gunpla: the HGUC Gaplant TR-5 Hrairoo/Haruhi/Hrarw00/Gongwu/however you pronounce it. Well… it’s not really too much of a review but more like I just photoshoot it while playing with it ^^;.
I’ve been enjoying the sun lately. It’s almost unheard of for Oregon to go on rain-free for two straight weeks. Let’s hope it stays sunny for the rest of the summer ^o^.
It’s that time of year I think where Chinese grandmas (or whoever knows) start making large batches of these traditional Chinese “dumplings/bells/jungs”. My grandma would literally make about a hundred of them (or more) and give them out to people ^_^
Under the leaves is this uhh… shape of sticky rice and some sort of beans. The ingredients can differ a bit like some would use different beans, no beans or even peanuts. All based on the maker’s preference. My grandma would make different varieties and the only way to tell them apart is by the string length at the end @.@
Inside will contain a salted egg yolk (YUM! :D), lap teurng (how do I even spell that? It’s Chinese sausage), and some form of salted meat (usually pork). Dried shrimp can sometimes be found inside too. I think it’s good stuff and it is very filling :D. Not sure I can say the same for anyone who doesn’t have a Chinese tongue though…
So… anyone knows the exact name of this in english? >_> Anyone had these before? :D
Just jumped over to Mesarion+ to look for some inspiration and I saw this. The master just never fail to amaze even after all these years. We all know how great his work is so I don’t have to state the obvious xD. Damn… I would love to learn from this guy even for just a day…
More photos over at his site. Keita is also auctioning off this model and while it started off at a modest ~$50 (5000 yen), it has now skyrocketed to insane amounts…
Here’s the first of three HG models that I’ll be reviewing in the next couple of days. First up is the HGUC Gundam TR-1 Hazel II which I know absolutely nothing about ^^. This is my first time seeing another modeler’s kit in person and first time reviewing such a kit and I must say… it’s a bit harder than I thought ^^;. Since I didn’t build the kit, I have no knowledge about its structure nor articulation potential. Seeing all the loose parts were also a bit confusing at first until I ran over the manual a few times to understand what is going on xD.
It’s also nice to see a different perspective on how one builds their gunpla. I actually picked up a few ideas from this kit that I might want to try out later on with other kits ^^. Gotta appreciate the finer details in Gunpla…
Testing out to see if a black background will do it for me when I photoshoot white mobile suits. Notice you can probably see a bit more clearer in details with the black than with the white of the same shot with the same setting:
Sorta ^^;
Some of you might noticed that I do take a liking to overexposing my photos for that white fuzzy aura effect (best example: my MG Sinanju) but that doesn’t work nicely with a black backdrop.
While this backdrop might work for white or light colored MS, it is not working for other solid color MS but that’s obvious. Some like it but not me because the color aren’t as vibrant.
What do you all think? Should I start using a black backdrop for lighter Gundams or just stick to white?
These just arrived a couple of days ago. They aren’t new and are already built by its previous owner who couldn’t keep them anymore. I’ll actually be reviewing these three in the next few days instead of working on the MK II. It’ll be interesting because this is my first time seeing someone else’s work in person on a gunpla and there are many things to note about (the way stuff is done differently, style, etc etc). I just want to say that I’m very grateful for this offer and I’m touched that he would trust me in keeping his models safe despite the both of us not really knowing each other. I’ll definitely treat (and abuse) the newcomers with care like I do with my own kits ^^.
Now I’m feeling a bit inspired by all of this SoOoOo… anyone wanna start coming up with ideas for the next giveaway contest? :) A special occasion (can you guess what it is? It’s related to this blog) is coming VERY soon so better get your ideas in otherwise I’m throwing a photohunt :P
I’m sure all of you already had a clue that this Master Grade would be next so no surprises here. Originally, I was going to build this immediately after the RX-78-2 2.0 but you know… I was a bit impulsive :). Going from the runners and the manual, this model doesn’t seem to be as much of a breeze as I thought it would be (like how I thought the RX-78-2 2.0 was a breeze… must be a 2.0 thing).
In typical UC fashion, its the return of mesh cables! Oh how I hated those and making sure they don’t slip out after the parts are assembled. Hooray for minimal foil stickers! The biggest one is the yellow bits on the shield…. seriously, Bandai? Of all things, you couldn’t have molded those two yellow bits for the shield?
Be happy with the proportions we get for models today. Fat MK II is fat o_o.
I like big swords and I cannot lie! You other Gunotas can’t deny!…
*cough*
It’s been way overdue but here it is! Review for the MG Sword Impulse! Have fun scrolling down through the 150+ photos in the review :)
Comcast turned off my internet last night just right after I got started on typing up the review… sadly, I won’t be able to finish till later tonight. Soooo… here’s some Shokotan eye candy to ease the disappointment ^^;
