Alright! Finally! It’s about time! MG Exia!… … and I’m actually not too thrilled about it. What’s up with the proportions? They aren’t THAT much of an improvement over the 1/100. The GN Sword is fat… but needs to be more lengthy. Honestly, all this time I was hoping for MG Impulse proportions on Exia. Oh well. Guess I can wait for others reaction before I grab one… but then again, it does come with first batch goodies… hmm…
stuff jacked from Ngee Khiong and more pictures here.

May 14, 2009 at 1:04 AM
I feel the same, hopefully this is just prototype and they will get Bee-craft to redesign the proportion!
It’s a good thing it comes with the cape and the light gimmick though, and the GN sword is electroplated. Oh wait, is that for the first batch or what?
This one and MG Guntank are my must-buy! And you can count on Bandai to release Exia R, Exia R2, Designer’s color ver, Astrea F, Astrea F2, Trans-Am mode …
May 14, 2009 at 1:14 AM
Ah nice it comes with the LED gimmick that they had on Gundam 00 as well. Here’s hoping they do MG version of the other Celestial Being suits. I really want a MG Dynames as well :D
May 14, 2009 at 1:30 AM
@Mesmer knowing bandai.. i doubt they will =(
May 14, 2009 at 1:53 AM
I don’t think we should over anticipate this MG. After all, we are all very familiar with Bandai’s milking strategy. I think we all should wait for a few months just to see what the reviews are and who knows, another version might be coming out by the end of the year…with designer colour or light up parts (head, elbow + knee joints. I do hope Bandai release some MGs from the Evolved series or probably Nu Gundam 2.0. Looks like your unfinished kits gonna pile up again Z!
May 14, 2009 at 2:17 AM
At last MG Exia. I was waiting for this kit since the beginnig of the Gundam 00 and now it will be released^^. Hehe now I know what I will order in July, the only question is, will the price be higher then this posted on Ngee Khiong or will it stay like it is now. Since higher price will be deadly for my wallet :/ . Now the question is when we will see MG Astrea Type-F and MG Avalanche,it’s more then 100% sure that they will be also released since it’s basically Exia with some small changes in design. I think that since soon we will have MG Exia then, in this year we will not see MG OO Raiser, but who knows maybe at the end of the year they will announce it^^
May 14, 2009 at 3:37 AM
This will probably be on the bottom of my list since I recently fell in love with the Universal Century timeline and will get more kits from the said timeline.. Namely the RX-79(G), Mk-II Ver. 2.0.
I’d be watching War in the Pocket and Stardust Memory this week and probably will want more kits from the shows. XD
May 14, 2009 at 5:35 AM
The Exia variants are at least a year or two out, if the Exia sells well. So what can we expect? Opening cockpit, RX-78 ver 2 level articulation, 100% color accuracy, plated sword, light up gimmick, detailed inner frame. All this for 3000 Yen (4500 yen after the promotion pricing ends) price difference. I think this is a pass unless the final model really wows me.
Quite frankly, I was not expecting to pay more than 4500Y for this guy, considering the 00 Raiser with 3 light gimmicks is 5000Y.

It’s about time!

Here’s a better look of the MG without the shadows. It seems the pic that you have is more of the perspective problem than the size of the blade.
Even without the Ignition mode (bling0bling edge for ALL three swords, some fittings, R1 head and the cape), the blade is made out of several parts and is quite lengthy.
I’ll get it JUST for the GN-drive gimmick – if you see the first pic, the GN drive is detached and in picture four, you can see another LED facing outwards – the chest orb glows! :D
and oh Z, how could you not fanboy over the GunTank? :D:D:D
May 14, 2009 at 6:53 AM
Hahaha, my info was right then? XD
Well anyway Z, you can’t buy anything. You have promised us. Hehehe.
I’m waiting for MG 00 instead Exia. Whenever it is… I wont fall on Bandai trap again. xp
May 14, 2009 at 7:36 AM
im still waiting for MG 00 gundam and i wish they will include GN sword III (for MG 00, not 1/100 NG)
May 14, 2009 at 7:57 AM
SPECIAL GOODIES :reading the fine script: Oh yeah^^; I want a MG KYRIOS SOON^^
May 14, 2009 at 8:42 AM
OMG YES!!! MG Exia! But I rather wait the MG Exia R2, cause we all know they’ll do one. May even wait for a MG 00 Raiser. I have an idea where that’s concerned…
May 14, 2009 at 8:44 AM
ok. MG exia. the 1/100 looks better IMO. but we do hope that this one gets redesigned so that it will become super sexy like impulse. until then im not getting this one. >.<
May 14, 2009 at 8:59 AM
Hmm, the GN does look funny, hopefully it is not like this in the final product. This is definitely on my “To buy” list!
May 14, 2009 at 8:59 AM
I mean the GN Sword in the above post. =_= Sorry.
May 14, 2009 at 10:23 AM
Hey Z, do you mind if I add you to my blogroll? I am a huge fan of your blog and I love what you’re doing with it.
May 14, 2009 at 10:26 AM
This is the link to my blog http://007swords.wordpress.com/. For some reason I thought you might would be able to just click on my name and go there, but I guess not.
May 14, 2009 at 11:41 AM
Seaotter, thanks for the better pics! that definitely looks a lot better! though I must say Bandai has done quite a shoddy job on building AND posing it… what a horrible way for a first display.
7swords, sure. we can exchange links ^^
May 14, 2009 at 12:30 PM
Thanks Z, I will be posting my blogroll as soon as I can get permission from more blogs than just yours. ^^
May 14, 2009 at 6:21 PM
So like Strike, Exia’s getting MG treatment not long after the anime’s finished airing. I can’t judge too much from those photos, and as non-MG gunpla are getting better and better these days too, I have to wait until more info shows up. Don’t think I will get one for myself though.
May 14, 2009 at 9:44 PM
mg exia is not on my to buy list, unfortunately. i think its not that good to look at. its funny. and the box art is not as good as that of sword impulse. not really impressed of MG exia. i was expecting a better one. haha. LOL
May 14, 2009 at 10:10 PM
Looks fine to me. ill get one even thow i have a HG 1/00.

May 15, 2009 at 1:36 AM
Wait isn’t this coming with additional parts so you can build either R1, R2 or the damaged version from the start of season 2? All are minor differences right?
May 15, 2009 at 3:44 AM
Why Bandai… why only now??? Looks cool. Btw… just completed my Sinanju… it was one HECK of a ride… ;)
May 15, 2009 at 6:36 AM
@Mesmer,
There isn’t parts to swap into R2, so far the pic didn’t show any for R2. It only got R1.
But a heck of 1st batch special parts for 6k yen ? Gosh I’m not sure I’ll get tempted with it.
May 15, 2009 at 8:13 AM
too expensive for me. T_T
but for the extra parts, they can be modded from everyday household materials. >.<
May 15, 2009 at 9:49 AM
Hmmmah, sure is a lot of complaining going around here. Truth be told the reason most of you aren’t impressed is because the normal 1/100 was already REALLY well done. It was approximately $24, came with everything seen in season 1, and had unbelievable articulation.
The only obvious problems with it were the head size and the looseness from the PC legs and the attachment site at the hips for the short and long sword. These problems according to the hobby show pictures have been fixed (the skeleton uses ABS plastic which is capable of supporting the weight from the legs) and not much else has been touched, which is perfect.
May 15, 2009 at 3:23 PM
Ok whats the differences between Exia and Exia r2 other then the GN blade???
May 15, 2009 at 4:41 PM
@Dredhawk
I’m not sure, but from looking at google pics I think the upper arm and upper leg armour is slightly different. I’m sure someone here knows the exact differences though :).
May 15, 2009 at 7:33 PM
The differences between the exia and the exia r2 are subtle, but there are many. All of the GN stripes from the exia have been removed from the exia r2. The back armor skirts of the exia r2 are different than those of the exia since the r2 does not have beam handles mounted on them. The r2 does not have the beam handles mounted on the back of the shoulders. The only beam sabers that the r2 has are mounted on the hips, where the GN blades of the exia mount. Also, the only weapons that the exia r2 has are the two beam sabers and the GN sword III, atleast as far as I know.
May 15, 2009 at 11:21 PM
Truth be told, I have been calling for it all year, so to not want it now that its finally announced isn’t right to me. I want to wait for more info on the Ignition mode before I reserve one for myself.
May 16, 2009 at 12:10 AM
7Swords explained the difference pretty well ^^
I’m VERY tempted to pre-order the Ignition mode but I want another look at the GN Sword and the mirror blades before I decide… and the finished Repair version too!

May 16, 2009 at 2:45 PM
I personally can’t wait ^^ although the price for the ignition mode is scary, since I know I can’t get the 1st batch ^^
May 16, 2009 at 11:26 PM
Ha,ha, I just sold my untouched Astraea type F when i heard about this XD Heck, now I’m getting myself a figma of Yagami Hayate to complete my Nanoha trio.
Anyways, I think I’ll be getting the regular release, or should I wait a little longer for the possible release of an Avalanche Exia hmmmm????
May 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
I don’t really know about you guys, but I am so buying this.
Is ignition mode even worth it? I’ll probably get the regular version, only because of the price.
May 17, 2009 at 11:56 PM
If you’re a sucker for special bonus stuff (for example, PG Red Frame’s option parts) like some of us it’s definitely worth it! As soon as it’s available to preorder I’ll be placing one.
May 18, 2009 at 11:07 PM
there’s no bonus stuff this time around but it’s $13 cheaper for the first batch!
May 19, 2009 at 3:44 PM
I wonder if it has a opening cockpit
I wish they would make mg legend
May 19, 2009 at 7:08 PM
haha. joe i think MG exia has an openable cockpit as most MG kits do. and when it comes to legend, i dont think its gonna make the MG line. the design is a lame yet more beautiful upgrade than providence. but i love legend’s design. the 1/100 is enough for me. no need to go MG on legend. i hope MG seed kits will end with sword impulse. nothing noteworthy of becoming an MG kit comes to mind. in fact, IJ almost didnt make it to the MG line for some reason.
July 16, 2009 at 10:28 AM
Bull shit ur coment…
July 16, 2009 at 12:01 PM
^If you’re gonna call BS on someone’s comment then elaborate why you think so… and besides, which comment are you even referring to?
July 21, 2009 at 1:45 AM
PLS dun argue juz because you are SEED fans.
We r all Gundam fans.
N Bandai only will make some HG or 1/100 upgrade to MG if the feedback is good(E.g. HG Exia almost can be seen in every household in Japan that have children n teenagers, due to That Bandai will decide to make a 1/100 then MG.)
July 21, 2009 at 7:02 AM
Unless Bandai decides to bypass MGs altogether. There’s a Perfect Grade 00 Gundam on the way ^^
August 2, 2009 at 1:36 PM
I’m gonna get this one soon!
September 23, 2009 at 12:36 AM
[...] any further. One thing is clear though: My initial reaction for this model is similar to that of my first time seeing MG Exia. Also, for something that cost ~$250-300…. why does Bandai want to charge MORE to get the [...]
