Alright! Finally! It’s about time! MG Exia!… … and I’m actually not too thrilled about it. What’s up with the proportions? They aren’t THAT much of an improvement over the 1/100. The GN Sword is fat… but needs to be more lengthy. Honestly, all this time I was hoping for MG Impulse proportions on Exia. Oh well. Guess I can wait for others reaction before I grab one… but then again, it does come with first batch goodies… hmm…
stuff jacked from Ngee Khiong and more pictures here.

So like Strike, Exia’s getting MG treatment not long after the anime’s finished airing. I can’t judge too much from those photos, and as non-MG gunpla are getting better and better these days too, I have to wait until more info shows up. Don’t think I will get one for myself though.

Wait isn’t this coming with additional parts so you can build either R1, R2 or the damaged version from the start of season 2? All are minor differences right?
May 15, 2009 at 3:44 AM
Why Bandai… why only now??? Looks cool. Btw… just completed my Sinanju… it was one HECK of a ride… ;)
May 15, 2009 at 6:36 AM
@Mesmer,
There isn’t parts to swap into R2, so far the pic didn’t show any for R2. It only got R1.
But a heck of 1st batch special parts for 6k yen ? Gosh I’m not sure I’ll get tempted with it.

too expensive for me. T_T
but for the extra parts, they can be modded from everyday household materials. >.<

Hmmmah, sure is a lot of complaining going around here. Truth be told the reason most of you aren’t impressed is because the normal 1/100 was already REALLY well done. It was approximately $24, came with everything seen in season 1, and had unbelievable articulation.
The only obvious problems with it were the head size and the looseness from the PC legs and the attachment site at the hips for the short and long sword. These problems according to the hobby show pictures have been fixed (the skeleton uses ABS plastic which is capable of supporting the weight from the legs) and not much else has been touched, which is perfect.

Ok whats the differences between Exia and Exia r2 other then the GN blade???
May 15, 2009 at 4:41 PM
@Dredhawk
I’m not sure, but from looking at google pics I think the upper arm and upper leg armour is slightly different. I’m sure someone here knows the exact differences though :).
May 15, 2009 at 7:33 PM
The differences between the exia and the exia r2 are subtle, but there are many. All of the GN stripes from the exia have been removed from the exia r2. The back armor skirts of the exia r2 are different than those of the exia since the r2 does not have beam handles mounted on them. The r2 does not have the beam handles mounted on the back of the shoulders. The only beam sabers that the r2 has are mounted on the hips, where the GN blades of the exia mount. Also, the only weapons that the exia r2 has are the two beam sabers and the GN sword III, atleast as far as I know.

Truth be told, I have been calling for it all year, so to not want it now that its finally announced isn’t right to me. I want to wait for more info on the Ignition mode before I reserve one for myself.
May 16, 2009 at 12:10 AM
7Swords explained the difference pretty well ^^
I’m VERY tempted to pre-order the Ignition mode but I want another look at the GN Sword and the mirror blades before I decide… and the finished Repair version too!

I personally can’t wait ^^ although the price for the ignition mode is scary, since I know I can’t get the 1st batch ^^
May 16, 2009 at 11:26 PM
Ha,ha, I just sold my untouched Astraea type F when i heard about this XD Heck, now I’m getting myself a figma of Yagami Hayate to complete my Nanoha trio.
Anyways, I think I’ll be getting the regular release, or should I wait a little longer for the possible release of an Avalanche Exia hmmmm????
May 17, 2009 at 6:07 PM
I don’t really know about you guys, but I am so buying this.
Is ignition mode even worth it? I’ll probably get the regular version, only because of the price.
May 17, 2009 at 11:56 PM
If you’re a sucker for special bonus stuff (for example, PG Red Frame’s option parts) like some of us it’s definitely worth it! As soon as it’s available to preorder I’ll be placing one.
May 18, 2009 at 11:07 PM
there’s no bonus stuff this time around but it’s $13 cheaper for the first batch!
