F91 WISP: Tiny Parts Galore

IMG_8202

Here’s what I’ve assembled for the MG Gundam F91 so far. Admittedly, I haven’t been working on this model much recently since I’ve been trying to “catch ‘em all” on the DS >_>. But seriously…

This model is difficult to build. And not for a good reason; The parts are TINY! About 1/144 size and some even smaller. imagine trying to hold onto it and clean the nubs with a knife. Not only are the parts small, they are also fragile and thin. I can feel some of the parts bending as I try to snap them in place.

F91′s hideous mugshot face =_=. The dude means serious business…

I have a F91 never had a problem with the tiny parts. The reason Gundam F91 smaller is they started to scale down moble suit in UC116. But im sure yall know that.

  2. StarGhazzer Says:

What’s with the hideous face hate? :P In fact, I think the face gives the F91a unique look. And it’s not for aesthetic purposes either, it has its purpose (heat distribution) as depicted in the movie.

The MG F91 is a beauty, especially when you consider the level of intricate details packed into such a miniature gunpla. To be fair, it’s not that small to be honest. At 15cm it’s still relatively larger than most OYW and Z HGUCs.

I personally prefer the blue Harrison Madin version, but I eventually gave up on getting that due to its sticker fest. I chose Char’s Zaku ver2.0 instead lol.

From what I can remember… F91′s face opened just to do what appears to be “spitting” at the Rafflesia with yellow sparkles before the thing destroyed itself. Speaking of “hideous face”, I like the Crossbone’s variation more. Now that’s a badass look ^^

Hey bro, i own this babe also and i can tell you, this is really a nice MG, but the fingers is a bit small, and that would be a bit difficult to hold the bazooka. :)

  5. ercjohn Says:

im used to handling 1/144′s… i cant afford a lot of 1/100′s so i buy a lot of 1/144′s and handling small parts with big stubby fingers like me gets easy after a while…

    F91′s a spitter?????? O.o

  6. StarGhazzer Says:

The spitting effect is just a representation of heat being dispersed from the mouthpiece radiator thingy… In fact, the afterimage effect is due to the F91 releasing heat from its body. Don’t ask why does the “heat images” still look like the F91 itself though… dramatic effect perhaps.

never watched f91 before and never will… XD

  8. gunstray Says:

Hey did F91 ever fought with Crossbone

  9. beamknight87 Says:

In the manga there is a battle between the Crossbone and a full squad of F91′s, however, Kincaid piloted the former and knew it better that anyone else, hence why he is able to beat the F91′s.

  10. Zro Says:

I believe the Crossbone and F91 also fight in Crossbone Gundam: Skull Heart (or was it Steel Seven?) in any case Tobia (piloting the X1 Kai) faces a blue F91, hence a MG F91 in blue.

  11. sbhboi Says:

Despite of having an annoying faceplate, it has the cool battle scene stand for which no other MGs has ar. Yeah it is small (lost some parts a couple of times already, lucky found ‘em back..) but this ms in anime meant to be very agile, thus that’s explain the size in…plastic kit. ^^”

“Speaking of “hideous face”, I like the Crossbone’s variation more. Now that’s a badass look ^^”

Yeah Crossbone’s more look evil when releasing the heat.

  12. Z Says:

I recall a scene from one of the crossbone manga that Kincaide (x-1?) and Martin (Blue F91) were very much enjoying their duel with each other…

*goes back to wishing for Crossbone to be animated…*

  13. Roy Says:

He’s got an ugly look face? Maybe Optimus prime and a gundam made a baby and this guy was the result O.O

He’s got an awesome stand though, but he’s puny n ugly ^^

  14. aptkane Says:

@Gunstray – Yes. The Crossbone Gundam is actually the F97, so it was disigned after the F91, but with different thruster parts for Jupiter’s high gravity.

That being said, the Crossbone Gundams could move in earths gravity but it just took a bit more “getting used to”. At one point, the Crossbone Vanguard return to earth to stop Jupiter Empire’s plans, but are framed, and so The EFSF’s Ace Commander Harrion leads an attack against them in his Custom F91. By then The EFST made about 20 F91s I believe. Regardless, the X-3 and X-1 are just about evenly matched against Harrion in the older F91, but if I recall I believe Kincado (who’s actually Seabook in disguise) Bests Harrison. They then clear up the “framing” incident and Harrions joins the final battle with Crossbone Vanguard.

…*sigh*..I love Crossbone Gundam. Z, your F91 looks awesome so far, good work!

  15. Derringer Says:

G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam X, Gundam F91, Victory Gundam all have smaller than your average sized Gundams. MG God Gundam should be just a tiny bit taller than the F91.

On another note, have you heard about a ban for exportation of spray paints out of Japan through the Japan post international exchange center?

  16. Z Says:

Aptkane, ahh I can always count on you to fill in us in on the details/history of any Gundam series ^^.

Derringer, really? That’s news to me o_o. I have only ever bought top coat once and never again because Customs held onto them for over a week and that seemed a little too risky.

  17. ercjohn Says:

    ugly guy…….. but i love crossbone……. crossbone was f97???? all this time i thought x-1 was the f95… -.-

  18. aptkane Says:

    No problem Z, that’s why I’m here!

ErcJohn, no the F95-JD is apparently a fan made MS. Not to plug my own suff (I hope you don’t mind Z!!) but check out my site at http://www.korewagundam.wordpress.com – I have a post on the F-95.

  19. Derringer Says:

Yeah, rainbowten apparently says shipping spray cans overseas is now illegal.

  20. CKai Cydek Says:

    Apparently they’re afraid the may be used as makeshift explosives…or flamethrowers ^^;
