Crossbone WISP: Peacock Smasher

Spent a little too much time painting and assembling the Peacock Smasher (blah! the paint is chipping from the sliding parts already). Now I think I’ve taken care of the most tedious part of this model and hopefully I can breeze through the rest… until the end. You know what sucks? Not only is the Peacock Smasher ridiculously heavy but also the socket in the handle is apparently too big for the peg on the palm… so it doesn’t work and the thing just falls right off (initially). I added some paint inside the slot and it somewhat fixed the issue.

I stiffened the joints and fingers to reduce the chances of loose parts and so far I think it is working… ^^

    Heheh In space you dont have to worry how heavy your weapon is. So was this use in earth cause I dont remember?

  2. beamknight87 Says:

    Told ya. Just like the GFF, the model can’t even lift this on its own.

  3. Nubcake Says:

    The key for getting the model to hold this gun is to have the back end of the gun under the “armpit” of the Gundam. To do this, you have to have the arm bent, sorta like how we would if we held a rifle. Kinda hard to explain, but hope it helps. Btw, I feel your pain on the Peacock Smasher. Total pain to paint that thing

  4. Adam Says:

    Does the kit give you two different chest skulls?

  5. eyeshield30 Says:

    Eh, this is the full cloth one? I tot it’s the katoki one :p
    Good luck with the pirates accesories, i hope u won’t find many trouble as my friend’s. This kit is real cool yet PIA he said. ^^;

    what anime is cross bone from

  7. Z Says:

    Gunstray, I wouldn’t know… never read Crossbone ^^;

    Beamknight, it can hold it almost just fine now :D

    Nubcake, I supposed that’s the more appropriate way to hold this weapon…even if it doesn’t look so good like that xD. Thanks for the tip though.

    Adam, yes

    Eyeshield, Ver. Ka… Full Cloth… it’s all the same at the end.

    Anonymous, not anime. It’s from the manga of the same name.

  8. Jaques Says:

    @Anonymous,

    there’s no anime for Crossbone but it’s available in manga with 6 volumes in total.

  9. Chris Says:

    Crossbone:” With this, I shall Smash all the Peacocks in the universe. Run, you peacocks!”

    …… ^^;; Just had to.

    So, the biggest problem I’ve heard is true for all models, huh? The best weapon is also the hardest to hold. So much for the pegs.

  10. Anonymous Says:

    oh thats why i cant find much info on it it still badass lookin with its cape on

  11. eyeshield30 Says:

    ow hehe, so that’s why you mentioned ‘cutting wrong head piece’

    anyway good luck!

  12. CKai Cydek Says:

    Yikes…I think I’ll steer clear of the Full Cloth for now. All that additional equipment seems intimidating. Besides, the Ver. Ka seems to have a healthy amount of weaponry as is, so I’ll go for that first. But seriously, how the heck to you get that thing to stand with it’s solid plastic ABC Mantle, Peacock Smasher, and everything else?

    Maybe you should run a thick wire inside the arms to strengthen them so they don’t sag?

  13. Saito Says:

    Great and I just bought the Full cloth ver. to go with my ver. Ka. I smell dead kits on the horizon…

    p.s Z I picked up a shinaju any last words before I kill myself?

  14. Z Says:

    Chris, best weapon? That would be the muramasa blaster for me :P I actually don’t really care all that much for the peacock smasher but I just made it a goal for the model to be able to hold it.

    Ckai Cydek, Something will work out at the end eventually… I hope…

    Saito, Believe in you, not the you who believes in me, not me who believes in you, believe in you who believes in yourself!… and have fun! and pretend that you are if you are not ^^;

  15. ercjohn Says:

    @saito
    do what z says and take your time…..
    @gunstray
    weight does matter in space…..when you do melee attacks….. XD

  16. tamerchris Says:

    @Z: Is that a tongue twister? lol

    The you who believes in you and not me who believes in you and you who believes in me.

  17. ercjohn Says:

    @chris
    so you really changed your name…… @________@

  18. Derringer Says:

    You could also apply a thin layer of super glue to the peg to increase the friction between it and the female hole on the hand. Apply the glue, and then smear it over the surface of the tab. Sand away excess after it dries so that it fits into the hand, but does not fall off.

  19. kkte Says:

    Beside this peacock blaster, there is another weapon that i find almost impossible to hold which is the HUGE sword with the beam effects. The slot is just too loose! XD

  20. Saito Says:

    *pretends to have fun, but is dead on the inside*

  21. Z Says:

    Derringer, painting the peg gives the same effect but easier to clean up ^^. I used to use that method as well.

    Kkte, yea… I heard about the muramasa blaster being like that too… I’m keeping that in mind as well

  22. Z Says:

    Saito, *goes into psuedo-wisdom mode*… *turns around toward the horizon* you know… come to think about it… all the people who built the Sinanju (myself including) started out with a “HELL YEA!” optimistic tone when they first received the model, and were full of excitement at assembling one of the best MGs out… You know, that Gunpla naivete… all set and ready to give it everything they’ve got to make it look great even fully “knowing” how difficult it looks… but obviously (in EVERY case), just knowing is not enough. Preparing is not enough. Only after being slapped by reality then one realizes “OH ****! WTF IS THIS?!”. No matter how many reviews one might’ve read, it just doesn’t get absorbed until the person dives into the project personally. The project is nowhere near impossible but is still quite more demanding than your average MG. Just imagine… “a little more… a little more… and I’ll be there!”. Just keep in mind the fact that once you’re done, it’s one of the greatest feeling you can get out of building Gundam models… ^^;

  23. ercjohn Says:

    @saito
    i agree with z…… it takes me months just to build a single kit….. just have fun building it and think of it as something that is impossible to finish building…. im sure you’ll be surprised when you finish it later on…. you’ll be like “did it really take me that long? no way!!!”….. trust me on this…. its what i do…. XD

  24. Saito Says:

    @ all
    thanks for the advice *moral+50*
    time for modeling!
