Whew! I finally have time to be productive here again! *cough* anyway, I’ve been wanting to make this page for awhile but never got around to it till now. I have created a page for the display stands/bases that I use in my photoshoot and hopefully, some of you might find it a bit useful for future reference when you decide you need a stand or something ^^;. It’s not a model review but might still be worth looking into ^^. What I’m hoping is that some people won’t ask the same “what base is that?” question in every review xD (I’m sure it’ll come up anyway). As always, feel free to ask questions if I happen to left out something in the page. I’ll get to it…eventually ^^;
Now on to another subject matter…
MG V Gundam Ver. Ka!
ZOMG! It’s finally here! NO WAI!O_O… …and I really don’t give a flying rats about it >_>. Because I know not too far in the distant future, there will be a V-Dash Gundam (which I’m actually fond of)… and hopefully, a MG V2 Assault Buster Gundam (its coming RD release gives me hope). The V Gundam by itself is more vanilla than the Mk-II in design and I’m not feeling all that soft/roundedness. The beam fan is nice though. $40 for a model the size of F91 with some extra head parts (watch it be like another case of Exia Repair) is definitely not worth it in my book… that’s more than the regular MG Exia or Wing Ver. Ka! I’m kinda glad the V is getting the Ver. Ka treatment though (despite being designed by Katoki to begin with) since the straight built model above screams “BORING!”. Yea, I know I’m being a little too harsh on the little guy… but that’s because we all know that there will be better things to come later :)
Images from Ngee Khiong and thanks to those who informed me about it in the other post ^^.

Also, an aspect of Ver. Ka gunpla kits, I heard so it may not be true, is that Katoki oversees every step in the model developing process from the design to the layout of the runners.
October 8, 2009 at 9:31 PM
yeah, Katoki redesigns r usually just putting a truck load on the model and having better preportions, though some also have slight not-so-noticable changes to them, while a handful have been almost totally redesigned to look more modern (i.e. Wing and Wing Zero + friends) that only if u look hard enough u can see the resemblense to the original. so it really depends on u urself. personally though, i think that the truck load of stickers make the model look less plain. it’s just really, REALLY tiresome to put them on.
October 8, 2009 at 9:33 PM
oh, and just to throw in a question, WHERE IS THE TRUCK LOAD OF STICKERS ON VICTORY!?!(im not rly complaining. just noticed) r they, like, not in that stage yet or something?

I’m looking forward to the two MGs from Unicorn next year, though it’s wide gap to guess at which two will make it. Kshatriya and ReZel already made it into HGUC and with the latter’s release date close, it seems unlikely. Banshee figures prominently but I’m afraid Bandai will screw me over by releasing a MG Kshatriya then. >_> Surprisingly no HGUC Sinanju yet..
V’s design is probably to draw in the die-hard UC crowd who’s been wanting a MG V for ages. Changing it any other way else might not be good, especially when packing the full transformation process into such a small frame. Iirc it was one of the speculated reasons that delayed a better kit of the V. Bandai simply didn’t had the engineering prowess back then. They sill have someways to go of course, as shown by their explanation over the Sinanju’s gold trim.

I’m really uncertain which kit to buy next, given all these cool kits are all available at my place:
HGUC Psycho Gundam
MG FAZZ Gundam
MG EX-S Gundam
HG 1/144 Meteor Unit
Help me choose!!! (price doesn’t matter)
October 9, 2009 at 2:00 PM
Exkurogane: If you have 1/144s around, and can afford any of them, I’d go for Psyco Gundam (with no H, but that mistake’s made all the time by everyone). Why not have a giant Mobile Suit/Armor/Fortress dwarfing your other 1/144s surrounding it?

oh, i just saw something. If u look at the victory core fighter photos at
http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-gunplas-from-49th-all-japan.html
u will realize that the V-fin is gone, and in it’s place is the HEXA… sensor aray… thingy…i think…

The more I see pictures of the MG V Gundam Ver Ka. the more I want to get it
October 10, 2009 at 12:30 AM
Just read that the Victory won’t have movable fingers (only the thumb will move). Instead, it has switchable hands. This bother anyone else? For me, kind of makes me not want it…
October 10, 2009 at 12:36 AM
Exkurogane, since you said price doesn’t matter… MG Ex-S! You can only find those available for oh so long… and trust me, you’ll feel VERY GOOD after completing it ^^
Allen, yea, it can convert to the Hexa head… though I don’t see how that’s a selling point >_>. It sure didn’t matter to me though xD
Shinra, doesn’t bother me at all since I’m not planning on getting it xD. Switchable hands are fine with me as long as they look dynamic.
October 10, 2009 at 1:48 AM
Thanks for the suggestion… Guess i’ll get it after a few weeks… Have to control my spending properly because i still have the Astray Revise to get, all by the end of next month… lol
I doubted because i have another 2 MGs in my backlog, MG Strike Noir and MG Strike IWSP.

I actually like the way v gundam looks here, i kinda want a gundam with a soft look to it. also tho in japan tho you can basically always get gunplas for quite a bit under msrp, so knowing i could get it for less than ¥4000 could be clouding my judgement
October 10, 2009 at 9:16 AM
@Z: Well, just throwing it out there, just in case people didnt know about it. actually, i’m kinda curious, what is so great about it? it doesnt have a V-fin anymore then. No V-fin = no “gundam” aura presense thingy.
@Shinra: Looks like u beat me to saying that to. Oh well. no big deal.
October 10, 2009 at 9:52 PM
dangnamit. I wanted a MG endless waltz gundam forever to go with my WZC. Why Bandai???
October 10, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Allen, In terms of design… the only difference is the head and that is it. If you look at it, it has a slight resemblance to the R-1 ^^;. What’s so great about the Gundam compared to V itself is it is basically minor upgraded version of V with just better sensors and such… everything else is the same >_>
Holyhong, let’s continue nagging at Bandai to make one (or all of them)!
October 11, 2009 at 5:27 AM
About time for the Victory! the latest pics on Ngee Khiong showing the inner workings look great! not the most inner detail but some very clever features, can’t wait!
October 11, 2009 at 2:28 PM
@adam
That’s exactly what Ver Ka stands for.
He may not be the original designer, but he’s making his version of the design within the specifications that Bandai has asked him to follow.
The big draw of the V gundam from an engineering perspective is that they’ve managed to replicate the complicated transformation scale and still maintain an acceptable range of movement.
October 13, 2009 at 8:50 AM
MG Victory Gundam is almost 4000 Yen. A bit steep for a 15m Gundam I agree, but I think that the selling point of it is the transformation gimmicks. On the other hand, Ngee Khiong said that there’s probably not gonna be much for inner frame details.
Victory will be a good start for those who want Victory models – V2 probably won’t be far away, but I have a nasty feeling that Bandai will probably be releasing Assault and Buster stuff seperately…….. ^^;

Anyone know the release date of this beauty?
October 18, 2009 at 2:56 PM
If you’re referring to the MG V, sometime in December…. usually late.
