It seems like someone from Bandai had dropped by this blog at one point in time and read my 1/100 Red Frame review and probably thought my lame “kitbash” was a great idea for a MG treatment ^^;.
Or maybe it’s purely coincidental. The world may never know. Whatever the case is… two gerbera straight AND Tactical Arms? SOLD!
… I would’ve much appreciate a 1/100 150 meter Gerbera Straight though. It would only be about 5 feet long…

I never thought how identical it looks to yours. Well, they did release a 1/100 Red Frame 2nd L….. but now that you mention it yourself, it is exactly the same. Haha…
Who wouldn’t be excited about this? PG is too much but MG with 2 katanas? Count me in!
December 22, 2009 at 9:28 PM
i wonder what these tactical arms are called… red arms ver. crossbow? xD that was kinda lame…
December 22, 2009 at 10:58 PM
Seriously, is it just me or turning that all-so-awesome gattling gun + Shield + Big Sword thing into a bow is lame + ridiculous?
Still a nice looking kit though :P Whats next? Gold Frame Amatsu?
December 23, 2009 at 12:57 AM
@lilweiser
I’d guess Gold Frame Amatsu Perfect type… If you had seen it before…

omfg i always wanted this kit to be made as a MG. waiting a very long time for a MG version of the astray frames is finally coming true ^^

From the looks of the scan, there may be quite a bit of detail painting to do. The lil’ fingers, Gerbera’s sheath, and the GS itself hasn’t been revealed. Hoping for a chrome silver finish, that gray crap I got with the Exia juss doesn’t cut it…. And, panel lines a plenty.
December 23, 2009 at 7:00 AM
Hopefully it’ll be real gold like on the PG
December 23, 2009 at 8:44 AM
Astrays are more interesting than Strike now. =) next would be either super-duper-muper expensive metallic gold frame or upgrade version of RF / BF ? Or worse, Green Frame.
December 23, 2009 at 3:46 PM
From the looks of the newer (but just as blurry) photos, it seems that the Red Frame’s Gerbera Straight will have the usual chrome blades and gold hilts ^^.
December 23, 2009 at 8:43 PM
@Z That’s a must. Even the 1/100 NG’s sword is already chromed… XDXDXD
December 23, 2009 at 9:23 PM
argh… I don’t even build my NG 1/100 red frame.. and this comes out… I’ll pass :(
December 23, 2009 at 10:42 PM
Bandai will probably milk more with this Astray Kit. Like Green Frame, Gold Frame. And who knows, they might wanna come out with Pink Frame, Orange Frame, Purple Frame. Heck, maybe even Mirage Frame :P
December 23, 2009 at 11:06 PM
@Lilweiser
Gold Frame Amatu Perfect Type, maybe?
December 23, 2009 at 11:37 PM
yup, this is just a testiment as to how Bandai does things…I mean the only reason a MG GN-X is coming out is because they can milk just about 5 more models out of it…think about how many times they reused the MG Zaku frame…and a MG Exia Trans-Am and Rollout colors is being issued. Ah, Bandai…next thing you know all the colors of the rainbow will be made into Astrays. xD
I’m still debating about this model though…the crossbow looks great but the proportions just look a bit too fat for me….

Um, not to burst anyone’s bubble, but it seems to me that excluding the two Gerbera Straight (or is one of them the Tiger Pierce?), this guy shares over maybe 90% of his runners with the Blue Frame, and the Tactical Arms seems just slightly modified to open wide enough to resemble a bow.
Why do I seem so disillusioned? Mainly because I already bought the MG Blue Frame, and this guys is just too similar for comfort – after seeing the price (over 5000+ yen, which is more expensive than the Blue Frame), I was honestly expecting the Red Powered or maybe the Mars Jacket version. Then we got this… -_-
I’m a bit disappointed that the katanas don’t resemble the PG design.
To those who haven’t gotten the Blue Frame yet, I say by all means, get the Red over the Blue. Especially Z, who loves big swords over all else ^_^
As for me, I might pass on this, depending on what else comes with it, or if there are any more unique features (I won’t hold my breath). I’ll check out the upcoming pics Bandai’s sure to feed us with.
December 24, 2009 at 8:46 PM
I think many wanted a Mars Jacket but I can see that thing being more clunky than the Crossbone Full Cloth and having a lot of loose pieces ^^. I would like to see just one more reasonable feature/gimmick on the Red Frame though- its “Shining Finger”.
December 24, 2009 at 9:01 PM
We might just get that.
December 25, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Hahha reuse Destiny Gundam hand for the Red Frames “Chidori”. Also plastic effect parts.
December 30, 2009 at 6:35 AM
I hope you can put both swords on one side though xD
I liked that gimmick in the PG!
December 30, 2009 at 7:45 AM
wow..this is nice..but i hope the katanas are both in the one side..like the PG..this must have the same price like the blue frame MG..i have the blue frame MG and its awesome..i cant believe this is more expensive but i think here in Philippines this will come later than other countries..i think i can save enough money to get this…anyway sorry for my bad grammar…
