Gunpla Nightmare

So you think having a giant collection of Gunpla in your room is awesome huh? Well, it is hur hur hur… Not. At least not when you have to move said collection out for any reason =.=. Such is the case with yours truly. My mom told me earlier that I need to move EVERYTHING(!!!) out of my room by Wednesday for carpet cleaning. This includes my towers of gunpla and GFF boxes, the shelves, garbage on the floor, junk, my bed, my comp… well, EVERYTHING… otherwise she’ll indiscriminately throw anything she sees away ^^;. And I know she’ll be happy to do it because she thinks of all Gundam models as they are collectively known as “trash” to her (typical parents). I have clothes, empty boxes, sleeping bags, cables, knives, traps, homework, paints, tools, reactors, health care materials, booze, magazines and what-have-you all over the floor and cleaning won’t be easy. Let alone moving out all the Gundam stuff. Worst of all, I’ll probably receive more yelling at how much “trash” I have once she sees my entire collection outside my room. I supposed now is a good time to clean up this junkyard of mine…

If you want an idea of how much I need to move out, here’s a previous post of my room (that made it into otacool ^^;).

Looking through the PG Strike Box

I don’t remember the last time  I opened the box to this model. It’s been years ^^;. Well… I think it’s about time it see the light of day right? or what little of it there is during this time of the year here. Before I start, just thought I’d glance over what I’m up against before actually starting on it so I can calculate how long it’ll take me.

So hardcore. A construction manual AND an instruction manual xD.

Who the hell named this sword “Grand Slam”?!

Funky looking pre-assembled hands. While it saves me time, I’m not sure of any other real benefits. Don’t they become loose over time like any normal hands?

Wanted to talk about about the inner frame parts and stuff but camera ran out of battery ^^;. It’s not like you all don’t know how this model is like anyway. This PG came out in 2004 after all…

Dragon Ball Z

Instead of diligently finishing up on the Skygrasper, I am now sitting here watching Dragon Ball Z… movies. Borrowed the whole movie collection from my M0nejer ^^. I avoid any anime (particularly shounen) series with more than 100+ episodes (bleach, naruto, conan, one piece, dbz, etc) because they are slow and takes up so much damn time. I haven’t seen ONE SINGLE EPISODE of the aforementioned anime series. I’ll watch the DBZ movies though since they’re short and brings back good memories- first anime I was exposed to… and first saw it in Cantonese :D.

My m0nejer is a hardcore DBZ/Vegeta fangirl. Beside the movies, she also has all DB/Z/GT soundtracks and the likes ^^;. One of the most ovely abused references (among others) we imitate at work is the “OVER 9000!” line. For example, like today:

M0nejer: hey Z! What did the scanner say about our sales today?

Z: huh? wut? o_O

M0nejer: NOOO! You messed it up! That’s not what you’re supposed to say!

Z: x_x… oh! IT’S OVER 9000!!!!!! *crushes thin air*

M0nejer: You ruined it! >:O

Basically, we would often communicate in ways that would bring the otaku lulz ^^;. I usually imitate some part of Light Yagami or Lelouch vi Britannia (right down to the FABULOUS pose) when things are going just as planned… or act like Kamille Bidan/Amuro Ray (or generic angsty protagonist) and wail “YOU ADULTS DON’T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING AND ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF!!!” when things go wrong. She understands the references real well XD.  We just laugh it off at the end ^^. It looks like we are just screwing around but we do work seriously ^^;.

My m0nejer was also the first person to introduce me to anime outside of the mecha genre… beginning with Ouran High School Host Club ^^;. Yea… I watched it all the way through. I had to question my masculinity afterward though…

Then she introduced me to Lucky Star… which I also watched all the way through and got my mind warped by the “moe” trend. I felt like I lost a few brain cells by the end of this anime… ^^;. From time to time, I had to ask “why am I watching this stuff?!?!”. I learned something though… never ask a squealing fangirl for preferences on what anime to watch. You might end up stumbling upon something like Junjo Romantica…

Skygrasper Last WISP

It might look or sound big what’s with its 1/60 but the Skygrasper is surprisingly small o_O. I’m working on the last of the cannons and stuff so just wanna post a quick update before I disappear to run some more errands.

Unrelated question, are you busier on a day off or on a day you have to work? x_x

Iron Man 2

W00t! Something to look forward to in 2010 already! While this news isn’t exactly new but I think the trailer is (watched it from Danny’s Gunmetal Iron Man page) and damn, does it seem to look more awesome than the first movie ^^. More awesome because of War Machine. I love the first one and it was hilarious all the way through but the movie was kinda anti-climatic… here’s hoping to a more epic ending :D.

“I’ve just successfully privatized world peace”. Badass. And gotta love the scene at the end of the trailer when they put the masks on :D

Anyone ever watched the old Iron Man cartoon back in the ’90′s? It was a good series though I don’t remember much of it but I think it had a lot of drama ^^;

Damn this brings back good memories. I was only in elementary school I think!

The more rockin’ second opening of the later season. They just don’t make cartoons like they used to…

Mr. Topcoat- Discontinued?

I hate bringing this subject up as much as you guys hate hearing it but answers must be sought out ^^;. It has come to my attention that Mr. Hobby’s topcoat has been pulled from just about every and any online store that used to carry them (including R10 and hlj). I tried any possible search term and keyboard to bring something up… but got nothing. I have no luck finding any on ebay as well for the past few weeks. The first scare was that Japan banned exporting spray cans of any sort and it looks like hobby dealers have removed all sort of spray cans for sale (including paint, primer, etc) on their site. Can anyone confirm this? It would be nice to know that they are still being produced even if not for sale outside of Japan…

The above is all the topcoat stock I’ve saved up over the months. It might look like a lot but it’s actually not. I am still scrapping future projects here and there just to hopefully finish my regular projects ^^;.

PG Skygrasper WISP 1

I think all that’s left is to plug in the wings here and there and I should be finished ^^;. My tweet about clear black paint was referring to painting the windshield on this thing… to give it that tinted look but looks too blah. I kinda regret it so I’ll be stripping out the black and painting it clear blue instead.

It doesn’t look too bad… just could’ve looked better ^^;. I didn’t bother inserting the pilots in xD.

Honda S2000

As an avid lover of automobiles, I feel very obligated to make this post. This year marks the end of production for the Honda S2000, a sports car that is well-respected by anyone who loves to drive. After being in production for almost a decade with minimalistic changes, it is saddening to see this great car going the way of the NSX and Integra. Anyone looking for a S2000 in the future will have to settle for a used one, and even then it might be hard to find that perfect condition (least abused/low mileage) model as not many are sold in the first place (thankfully, it only comes in manual). This farewell post was possible thanks to my close friend letting me photograph his S2000… and letting me take it for a spin ^^;.

Turn X Turn

Here’s the review for the Robot Damashii Turn X. Okay… gotta go to work! Later!

Fallen Gundams

I’m sure this is an unpleasant sight that most of you can unfortunately relate to ^^;. My GFF Crossbone Gundam X-1 fell from the top of my 5′ display tower  and shattered into a few pieces after I accidentally bumped the case while trying to get to my closet. If you have Gundam models or figures, stuff like this happens from time to time. The damage wasn’t so bad since no parts were broken but it could always be worse… like my MG Freedom, which got its v-fin snapped after being knocked over by my light fixture ^^;. Another time (years ago), I knocked my MG Strike Rouge on the floor out of anger and bits flew everywhere (it’s all fixed and stuff now). My 1/60 Force Impulse fell from 6′ high and sadly I never fixed it. A lot more has taken such falls before but kinda painful to recall xD. The only thing to do left to do after it happened is to just fix it with your trusty super glue…

What’s the worst that has happened to your Gunpla before? Do you fix your broken models immediately or do you just leave it alone till who knows when? I generally tend to do the latter before the former… ^^;
