Honestly, one of the biggest cons people have with thie Deathscythe iteration aside from the bare design is the color scheme. I’m thinking I might get it, then just recolor the parts to resemble the classic TV version.

The ReZEL is probably the only completely original-from-scratch kit in the last couple of months. Though I’m hesitant to get it because I haven’t built my MG Zeta 2.0 yet, and I’m a bit wary of transforming kits. Might pick this up once I watch Gundam Unicorn episode 2, though.

Mari is…hm. Why is she so popular? Is it because she’s voiced by Maaya Sakamoto? Is it because Mari’s character is a badass who far outshadows Lunamaria’s therby making Maaya’s performance even cooler (at least, in MY eyes)?

Or is it because of her unique psyche?

It seems that EVERY Evangelion pilot has major issues that round out their personality:

- Shinji is a pathological introvert with a father complex
- Rei is severely sullen with little regard for her own existence
- Asuka is a whiny bitch with a mother complex
- And Mari is…well, she’s BATSHIT INSANE.

Which probably contributes to her overall badassness.

The Non-Grade 1/100 Tieren is one of the best 1/100 Non-Grades I’ve ever built. For a Mechwarrior-esque design, it’s poseability surprised me (excellent articulation!), and it comes with decent weapons and accessories.

Personally, I’d have wished for a 1/100 version of Sergei’s Flight-capable Tieren.

So, if a similar line-up came to be, and it was Gundam characters and the cockpits of the MSs they pilot, I’d likely consider getting them. Especially if we have characters like Harry Ord or Sochie Heim (both I already mentioned) available. By the way, wasn’t there a figure (not sure if it’s Figma) of Master Asia in the works?

I probably didn’t re-word my “gripe” (more curiosity in a sense of being baffled) about the consistency of people’s tastes regarding Katoki’s redesigns of the GW Gundams, as I had a mountain of text to delete and edit (yeah, yeah, a sign that I haven’t gotten out of the rock far enough), but what I mean is something I can ask in a question: Are Katoki’s redesigns of the “second gen” GW Gundams really that much more impressive? Is it so because they were animated and the first gens only showed up in a magazine around the same time? (Brushing aside the models, figures, and upcoming comic, of course.) Are the designs so uninteresting? Too much like Okawara’s “first gen” Gundams? Or too similar but feeling like a “downgrade” since we never saw the “first gens” first before the upgrade?
I guess taste shares a bit of a feeling, and people do like one but not the other, despite similarities. I understand that, and I guess I can show it when something else comes up. *shrug* But it just feels too inconsistent and maybe a bit disappointing that people are willing to wait on what seems to be Bandai’s predictable behavior that–in reality, not in predictions based on history–may or may not come, and might not take a look at what is an impressive redesign of the Deathscythe.
I brought up Okawara’s in the last reply as what I believe to be the typical GW fan’s reaction to Katoki’s redesigns of the “first gen” Gundams, yet while also feeling unimpressed with Okawara’s originals in the GW anime, are willing to overlook it when watching their tapes (or on YT or something else). I can’t stop people from feeling the way they feel, but I just have a feeling people are more open minded about Okawara’s entire GW Gundam designs than they are the first five designs for whatever reason (such as that they don’t show up animated, but are here and there in some other form). Whether my impression is true or not, I don’t know, but that’s what I get.
