March 30, 2009 at 5:03 PM
Hey! I check out your blog regularly for model reviews, its kind of what inspired me to make my own blog. I do model reviews as well, I was wondering if you would like to do a link exchange? Not for my wordpress, but my blogspot at cjinsblog.blogspot.com?
April 2, 2009 at 4:15 AM
I’m a newbie trying to buy my first MG Gundam, but i don’t like stickers. Can you recommend some 1/100 scales that has few (or none) stickers?
April 2, 2009 at 8:52 AM
If you’re referring to foil stickers, they’re pretty much about the same. Most MGs have little to no foil stickers (except one particular model…)but comes with a ton of optional clear stickers. So basically any MG would do if you just don’t like foil stickers.
April 2, 2009 at 7:50 PM
Thanks!
April 6, 2009 at 8:27 PM
Have I been ignored or what…
April 7, 2009 at 12:34 AM
sorry, guess your previous comment just flew over me. It’s hard for me to catch up to everyone’s comments sometimes ^^; I would gladly accept the link exchange :). Thanks!
June 1, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Sir, do have any idea where to buy Modelling Supporting Goods? I just can’t find optional/extra boosters for modifications… I am not contented with HGUC zakus and some of its UC 0079 releases.. THank u for the blog–it helps me a lot with my hobby! Salamat po!
June 1, 2009 at 9:49 PM

June 1, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Val, if you’re looking for those kind of parts then… I have no idea. Sorry ^^;
June 4, 2009 at 10:04 AM
Because I have no other place to put in this suggestion…
…I’d say going with a grayscale color is best. That would mean either black, silver, or the default white as I have when I got the Nintendo DS Lite (as a Christmas gift). Oh, and Mario Kart DS and/or Star Fox Command, just incase we can play against each other online under ideal conditions. :P
If you want something other than black/silver/white, then go with your favorite color, or what you think fits best with your most favorite Gunpla (Sword Impulse approves of the Crimson/Black DS!), or something. Favorite color (or something close to it) is the best way to choose in this regard. But I think going grayscale is a safe bet, and the best of those three monochrome choices (at least when I pulled up a page of the Nintendo DS Lite in multiple colors) is black. Always in style, always sleek, and doesn’t easily show any imperfections. :)
Here’s something quick to help:
http://www.nintendononstop.com/articles/nintendo-ds-lite-colors/
June 4, 2009 at 10:20 AM
I’m torn between the white and black ToT. On one hand, the white looks more natural of the DS (and Nintendo) to me plus it works with the half gloss half matte thing but damn white gets dirty oh so easily and oh so fast -_-. On the other hand, black goes with EVERYTHING I have (cell, camera, comp, tv, mp3 player) but the thing looks kinda odd in black and the matte inside looks cheap… I don’t know x_x
June 4, 2009 at 10:42 AM
Well, while Nintendo advertises this or that console in a specific color (grey/purple for Super NES, black for N64, purple for GameCube, white for Wii and DS Lite/DSi, and I reccomend the DS Lite), Nintendo gave options for different colors for consoles. You could have a blue N64, a red GameCube, a yellow Game Boy Advance, a silver DS.
And yes, it’s true; somehow, someway, dirt gets into the DS and the lighter the color (white being the prime example), it looks dirty. My DS looks that way with its slippin’ and slidin’ stylus (that I still have). And if it can be taken apart and cleaned, I wouldn’t personally risk it; I wouldn’t know how. Yet. That’s why I suggested a darker color like black; you might not see it as much. You might with crimson/black, though it’s not a bad color scheme to go with your Sword Impulse.
I’d say go with black; if you hate seeing your DS superdirty and you don’t want to risk breaking it to clean it up, and if you’re not tired of black as a timeless fad for every single gadget, then go for it. Silver might be a nice compromise but you’d still see some dirt around if it’s a lighter color and not super-maintained or locked up somewhere after use. White does define the current generation of Nintendo, and it looks nice, but you don’t have to go for it for that reason.
But at least get Mario Kart DS and/or Star Fox Command with your DS in any case. At least for the former, you might not regret it even if you’re not fond of just any ol’ racing game. And you might have a little fun with it too. At least (under ideal conditions) I could see if you’re any good at it online (which is my main reason why of suggesting either of those games at least). :)
June 4, 2009 at 11:32 AM
I’d check out one that has some sort of color to it as fingerprints stand out super hardcore on the black ds, unless that sort of thing doesn’t bother you.
June 4, 2009 at 12:05 PM
Well, which looks worse? Super Hardcore Fingerprints? Or Super Dirtiness?
June 4, 2009 at 2:52 PM
Both are eyesores imo :p a color like grey or the red/blue ones don’t really have that issue though.
June 4, 2009 at 3:11 PM
the silver one looks close to white… Actually I suppose I dont mind going for a white DS despite the drawback. I have OCD about keeping my gadgets clean xD
June 4, 2009 at 3:23 PM
Not that I have one, but have you thought of getting a PSP or already have one, Z? I’m asking because of the fact that games like Gundam vs. Gundam for the PSP are available to get and play, and I’m sure it’d be fun to.
June 4, 2009 at 7:20 PM
nah I have no interest for the PSP and Gundam games are mediocre at best in my view. They just look so cheaply developed.
June 4, 2009 at 8:05 PM
Well, while I can’t say I’ve tried out the game, Gundam vs. Gundam actually looks fun. And I’ve kept reading from others that these “Gundam vs. _____” arcade games (whether ported to consoles or not, and the latest one isn’t, maybe not yet) are the best ones out there to play. I’ve tried the oldest in that line (Fed vs. Zeon) and a more “doujin”/generic take on it for the PC. Pretty simple yet fun. But it’s your choice. *shrug*
So I take it silver would be your final choice (for your DS Lite pick)?
June 5, 2009 at 4:06 AM
never played any gundam games before other than endless duel (arcade game). XD
June 6, 2009 at 1:17 AM
Siroh, decided to go with a white one. I checked out the demo one at gamestop and it doesn’t look as dirty nor beat up as I thought it would be.
June 18, 2009 at 4:49 AM
Hey Z, 1st of all, sooo impressed with your site! convinced me to go ahead and buy the GP03 Stamen which i am currently making. beaut kit! now for the Musha… *excitement!*
for me you’re really up there with Dalong aye! if you have a review of a certain kit, i think it’s far more detailed than Dalong’s is. so well done! keep it up!
just one question, i’ve noticed in a lot of your pics you have a very simple, clear stand. i would love to get my hands on a few but have no idea where to look! any suggestions?
thanks so much!
June 18, 2009 at 10:14 PM
I just noticed your two blurbs. After some thought, I wouldn’t find this too surprising now that the DSi is out. I still say go for a DS Lite. You think you can find some place that has a stock of it? Could you even consider getting a used one somewhere?
June 19, 2009 at 4:53 PM
Gundamotaku, they are stands from hasegawa. You can find them from HLJ.
Siroh, from what the stores have been telling me… the white has been off retail floors for a couple of years now and the black has been taken off since last year ^^;. I finally picked up the black one on newegg though. I can never get myself to trust used consoles.
July 18, 2009 at 2:10 AM
Hey Z, Quick question:
Are there any anime stores or stores that have like revoltechs or gunpla in portland?
July 27, 2009 at 11:41 PM
Hey Z!
Im a big fan of your blog, you’re an inspiration! If you have some time, I’d be much appreciative if you would check my blog and Mk. II out. As an incentive, I made you a couple shoutouts haha.

Hey there this is Scififantasyanimeman. These are some awesome modelings of Gundams, and even more awesome drawings. You’ve got a real knack for this stuff and I’m lovin’ every picture of it. I’ve been watching Gundam since I first saw Gundam Wing on Toonami years ago. I’ve been watching Gundam 00 whenever I get the time. If I can figure this thing out how about I put you on my blogroll? Also if you get the chance come see my blog site. Granted it’s fairly small right now but I plan on adding more stuff in the future. Come visit and leave some comments whenever you’re able. This is Scififantasyanimeman saying I will see ya’!
August 17, 2009 at 10:44 PM
Sure… if you would also let me know where your blog is ^^;
August 18, 2009 at 12:49 PM

August 18, 2009 at 7:18 PM

August 30, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Hello Z, I’m new here and I’m quite impressed that you have lots of fans here. This is too much to ask for you but can we exchange links? I already added you in my blog http://animemmorpgs.blogspot.com and you can find your blog at my sidebar. I hope you grant my request for a link exchange. Thank you very much
September 1, 2009 at 12:57 PM
Sure. That’ll be cool ^^. Not too much to ask at all.
September 24, 2009 at 6:38 AM
hi man, very nice blog you got here :D, I really like your reviews on those Gundam! Do you mind if I add you to my blogroll? mine is http://h4msterworld.wordpress.com/

Hey man, HLJ is running free express shipping for the next 2 days if you want to check that out
September 27, 2009 at 12:03 AM
Yea I knew about that earlier this week… and totally forgot about it the next day >_>. Checked it out the first time and everything I wanted were on restock/out of stock xD.
September 27, 2009 at 1:03 AM
Haha that sucks. I picked up MG Physallis, MG Destiny, and Live Concert Version ZAKU!!!
October 20, 2009 at 12:13 AM
I saw your latest blurb, Z (as well as one or two related ones before). On the chance you see this before going to the doctor, I hope you go as calm and unstressed as possible. Maybe it’ll help you as you get better… *shrug* On the chance you read this after you go, I’d still think that’d be the way to go in the future for similar reasons.
October 20, 2009 at 12:27 AM
oh, I’m very calm and unstressed ^^. I’m not the type of person who worries about my own well being. Just that my mom isn’t convinced that she’s seeing any improvements in my condition so she is forcing me to go as soon as tomorrow. Doesn’t hurt to get it checked… it just takes away time from other things xD.
October 20, 2009 at 12:49 AM
Well, I thought as mentioned in a previous blurb of yours, you’d go annoyed (and maybe stressed), so I thought I’d just ask about it before you go off to see the wizard (doctor) of OZ. I just want to see you around in good health and spirits thinking about whether or not to get the MG RX-78-2 ver. 3.5 in 2017. :)
October 25, 2009 at 6:21 AM
hi…i just a new bie in this world of plamo….i ‘accidently’ enter ur site…its just awesome…i also add ur site to my blog…hehehe…
November 30, 2009 at 3:16 PM
A question for anyone knowledgeable about this kind of thing…
I’ve bought 2 gunpla kits so far, and both came with a little peel-away card with a long string of numbers behind the peel flap. What are they for, and how do I use them?
November 30, 2009 at 11:32 PM
yea… i believe that thing started with the MG impulse. It has a website on it right? You hop onto that site, enter the number and you get to see like special movies and whatnot. I could be wrong but still, it’s probably nothing special. I always ignore that paper with my MGs ^^;
December 16, 2009 at 6:02 PM
[...] u hv any good website on Gundam tips or not? yep ijat u can go to this site Dalong.net Zero G About ?????- Z's "Real" Gundam Model Review The Ghost of Zeon : Home Layman's Gunpla Guide | Otaku Revolution Gundam Modeling [...]
December 18, 2009 at 12:52 PM
hey Z, i’ve been reading your blog for a bit now but i’ve never asked for advice, i just get them from what you write.
anyway, i’m stuck on what MG kit(s) to get next, perhaps even HGUC kits.
any suggestions?
i’m kind fond of the Ex-S but i like the zeta [bst] better but there’s no kit of it only gff -_-
i don’t know, just stuck on what kit really stands out and calls to me to buy it =p
December 18, 2009 at 1:29 PM
If you want a “fun” kit then one of the MG SEED/Destiny kits will work wonders. For display kits, how about a Ver. Ka? MG Ex-S is a great choice too ^^
HGUC… that newly released 7th Gundam looks promising. The only one I’ve built personally is the Sazabi so not much advice in this part ^^;
December 18, 2009 at 3:43 PM
Since “fun” here obviously means continually taking and posing with [fill-in-the-blank] (or a similar definition), then maybe a newer, not-so-big-looking model of 1/144 size might suffice in the model department? I don’t have the Astray models, but they seem like they could pose excellently, if pictures of the Red Frame holding its sword (or the Blue Frame with its beam saber) almost as if it were holding a Baseball bat are of any indication. I would similarly say so for the Zaku I and (to a lesser degree) II HGUC models (which I’d like to have myself), if images from Dalong are of any indication. And the HG 1/144 RX-78-ish 0 Gundam. There are many HGs even today that have basic articulation akin to HGs-that-are-really-NGs last decade or MSiAs, but I’ve seen some good ones from the HG lines this decade, whether it be from the UC, SEED, or 00 lines. Again, if images from there or elsewhere are of any indication; I don’t have a big collection of Gunpla… Yet.
For figures, I’d recommend MSiA figures, whether the extended line or basic. I’ve got quite a few of these figures, and I still like playing around with them, even though that–like with other figures and things over time–they’re a little worn in the articulation department (at least a couple of figures are). I doubt they easily got that way, though.
For MSiAs and probably even EMSiAs, I’d advise not posing too far with the legs unless there’s no skirt armor or if you don’t mind removing them (or don’t mind warping them to the point of ripping them apart from the figure; they’re not connected by hinges or ball joints). But these figures are sturdy. I only have three EMSIA figures, but they have have very good articulation). However, getting them to hold heavier objects like the Wing Gundam Zero (EW ver.)’s twin buster rifle from the get-go is hard. Maybe it’ll be the case for its normal MSIA (TV version) counterpart as far as usage over time (though I don’t know personally, but I think AceWhatever does), but not from the get go like it is with EMSiAs such as my WGZ (EW ver.). I still like EMSiAs as I do MSiAs, though.
My GFF Wing (#0006 in the lineup) took a fall not long after I got it and some minor abuse here and there, and while I’ve honestly haven’t touched it much (though that’s about to change as I consider having fun with other figures I haven’t touched in a while), I think it can take some abuse on its own, but my GFF Wing isn’t an MSIA. I will give the GFF some points beyond detail and my preference for Katoki’s WG design; my first/U.S. version MSiA Wing Gundam has even more basic articulation than my GFF and can’t transform. But unlike my GFF, it can hold its own buster rifle easily and without the need of luck, even after worn usage over time.
In the end, if you want to treat these display figures like MSiAs, beyond the fact that nobody can stop you, I’d go for the earlier ones with basic articulation, since people keep saying the tendency for parts to fall off and break are higher for newer GFFs. If Z is right about the exception of the #0029 GFF figures, I’d go for them first if you don’t feel the need to get a specific GFF because you like the design of it. I’d still be careful with GFFs though, and beyond accidents happening, I trust people would be unless they’re little nephews/brothers/nieces/sisters/cousins that would go, “Wooow! A Transformers figure!” and go on a rampage with them. That’s how my first MSiA collection sadly went…
I don’t know about RDs… If they’re sturdy figures (which Z can attest to in the case of the Turn X), then I might go this route in spite of how expensive they seem to be (GFFs are lucky to be that price, and it seemed like a lifetime ago when MSiAs were around $10 or not much less).
So, for “fun”, if you’re careful, maybe some models like the HG 1/144s of recent times, or MSiAs, or early GFFs (or the #0029 ones, if you don’t mind arse-kickin’ from Domon and Allenby). You’re more safe with MSiAs, though.
December 18, 2009 at 8:04 PM
i see… well, i do like to pose them [MGs] every 2 weeks or longer.
i guess i should have specified what is “fun” for me.
a challenging build for kits and for gff, msia, 1/144 articulation/posing ability.
i will take into account all the info/advice given though.
thanks siroh32 and z!

Wow that is ridiculously expensive o_o. You have to buy 10 in order to get the average price of $10 a can. I forgot how exactly how much I paid for mine but I think it came out to be like ~$8 a can.

Your telling me…Although a few weeks ago I ordered 10 cans from ebay, specifically this user, for a significantly cheaper price. Maybe you’ll find it useful.

And the direct link to the current sale is:
