Hm.. guess I missed your above comment.

The details on the R-1 is there so there is not much you have to paint aside from a few spots (as far as I can remember). The plastic looks and feels whack so topcoat can fix that. Have you check out Dalong’s review on it yet? It is what it is from what you see in his photo- the thing can’t pose even if his life depends on it. It doesn’t even look all that great standing either… not to me at least.

Just finished my own Riese model. It’s a pretty sweet kit, although my only complain is that you can’t extend the right arm with the Bunker completely forwards because the weapon is ridiculously TOO big lol, so posing it as when the Riese attacks with the Revolving Bunker as seen in the animation of the OG’s game is actually impossible >_<.
I'd like to get the 1/144 R-1 to keep it company but you say it's really bad… is that really the case? even if you could afford to paint the missing details and let's say… use some glue on the shield connector?

Yes, they are for some reason priced higher than Bandai’s average MG yet offers about the same normal 1/100 kits with cheaper material.

Thank you for the indepth review of the kit. Considering of buying it, but…. I find Koto’s material is on the iffy side (the elbow peg on mine and my friends’ Daizengar SNAPPED after gently rotate).

Now (after fixing the peg) I don’t dare on posing him… T_T

p.s. is it just me or Koto’s kits priced more $$$ than Bandai’s?

Hi Z, nice review you have here. Complete and concise, with all the pluses and minuses put together in good sentence.

I’ve been yearning to buy SRW OG kits, as I’m a die hard mecha fan. But ridiculous horror story about quality and awful articulation from SRW OG kits really turned me off. Reading your review really seals the deal, I guess I’m not be buying any Kotobukiya OG kits anytime soon.

OG mecha design is awesome, but lack of articulation combined with sky high pricing is just too much.
